5 More Days til Christmas

Wow, Can you believe it? 5 days left...I am so not done with my gift shopping or Holiday preparation. But, I have been having fun meeting with friends for stamping playdates. Got several projects that need to get done before Christmas Eve...so now that only leaves me 4 days left...Yikes! If it wasn't for the last minute I would get nothing done...Geesh! When will I ever learn...but hey...I did make a few Christmas cards...If you didn't get yours, it must've gotten lost in the mail...but keep looking it may show up after Christmas. Here it is. I wish I can say I dreamed it up all by myself...but I did C.A.S.E. it...only problem is I can't recall where I found it..so I apologize for not being able to give credit where credit is due. I did change it a bit...so if you recognize it...Thank you!

Quiet on the homefront??

Hello! It is that busy time of the year...the holidays! Where does the time go? Are we really in December, already? I remember ringing in the New Year...2008! And now we have 2009 right around the corner.
I am up to my ears in alligators. Don't get nervous, it is just an expression, but I guess one who lives in South Florida should not say that too loudly. (smile, grin, wink)
I have once again over committed myself. Too many promises made, not enough time to follow thru. But I shall prevail, I must.
Well, hopefully I will at least get my Christmas cards made this weekend. Several stamping friends and I are getting together to stamp the day away. I will be sure to bring my camera to post some pics for you to see.
Besides my Christmas cards, I have orders to fill for handmade Christmas gifts...gotta get them done and quickly. An elf's life is not for me! I really don't know how they get things done in the North Pole. But what I do know is that I would not make a good elf. Now if Snow White was looking for an 8th dwarf, since Dopey and Sleepy's names have been taken, I would be Procrastinator, the 8th dwarf!! I always think I have all the time in the world. NOT!

Someday I'll get to Italy

Daydreaming about Italy. Born into an Italian family where only the adults spoke Italian. They didn't teach any of the children, this way they can talk in front of us and we would never know what they were saying. The sad thing is that when they passed away, the language went with them. How sad that none of my cousins or myself are bilingual. How great it would've been to someday go to Italy and to be able to converse with my Italian paisans. Ciao

Sympathy Card

For as much as I love my hobby, rubberstamping a sympathy card has always been the hardest thing for me to do. This card was made with several stamps designed by Ann-ticipations from 2000. Now, 8 years later, I actually used the stamps. I tend to shy away from making Sympathy cards, but because someone I admire lost her son, I just had to make this card for her.

One of My Favorite Techniques

I have belonged to Technique Junkies FOREVER! I receive a newsletter every other month that is filled with some great stamping techniques...but I must say that the Faux Handmade Paper technique has been my ultimate favorite.

I think it is because it is not as messy as if you were making real handmade paper. No water involved, no paper pulp...well, ok, you do have to use toilet paper...but you must check out my card. The chair is paper pieced using the faux handmade paper that I used as is the photo corners. Isn't the card just darling? And I actually gave it away in a swap...I just can't get into the habit of making 2 cards at the same time.

Cawfee, my favorite libation

After perusing my art work files on my computer, I came across this card that I did awhile back. I always try to make cards using themes that I enjoy. Then, I make the card and don't want to give it away. LOL. But that is not why I got into stamping. I like to send cards to people that can appreciate receiving a hand made card. Coffee being one of my favorite libations is always a fun theme to do. Of course, one cannot own just one style of coffee bean stamps or one coffee mug...how boring life would be! (smile, grin, wink)

Voting for Election 08

Wow! The lines have been crazy at the early voting polls. No parking spaces, cars parked in spots, on the sides of the road and on the swales. What a mess! The lines are not only around the building but down the street and 5 people deep...Last I heard was that on Sunday it was a 9 hour wait. Sooo, being the procrastinator that I am, I will be voting tomorrow at my assigned polling location. Joy! Joy! It has been a scary race listening to all the campaigning and dogging of each of the candidates. They promise us the world...It will be interesting to see who will be our next President. Please vote responsibly.

In a stamping funk? Italianarteest to the rescue!

Today, a dear friend called me for help. She hasn't been stamping or scrapbooking and needed help to get back on the stamping wagon again. IF you fall off of a horse they say you have to get back on. It is a known fact that once you learn how to ride a bicycle, you will never forget how to ride one even if you haven't ridden one in decades...So, my advice to those of you have had to put your creativity on the back burner due to personal issues or just a busy life pick up that stamp and open that ink pad and HAVE AT IT! Get back to your stamp table...start creating...it will come back to you...maybe in baby steps, but just get your stamps wet with ink and the magic will happen!

Sometimes when I am not in the mood to create I just stamp out some images and just sit with my colored pencils and just color the images...then when I see these colored images just sitting there I find myself cutting cardstock and patterned paper and magically the gluestick makes it into my hands and I blink and the image has now become a card.

Well, my friend wanted to make Holiday Cards and I wasn't really in a Holiday mood...the weather is still warm here in Florida, so it is hard to get in the "mood". BUT, today wasn't about me, it was about getting my friend back into stamping. So I made 3 card samples for her, we embossed, we layered, we embellished...I tried a little of this and a little of that, just to get her touching her supplies again. I didn't attach any of the layers and panels because I wanted her to CASE them and she promised she would make at least 2 more of each of them. Of course, duh, I didn't take any pics of what we did, but when I left my friend had all of her supplies all over her kitchen counter and at her dining room table. Hopefully I will receive one of the cards that she made...hmm, I think I am on her Christmas mailing list.

Stamping, Creating, Sharing

What better way to enjoy your creativity than thru rubberstamping and paper arts.
